Recently, MacFarlane Pheasants, Inc. passed a third party audit of the Food Products Division. The audit is required for MacFarlane's to maintain the ability to provide pheasant products to Whole Food Markets nationwide. The audit thoroughly examines all aspects of MacFarlane's operation. The audit also reinforces the "ALL NATURAL" claim of MacFarlane's products as it shows these products contain no added or artificial ingredients and are minimally processed.
MacFarlane Pheasants learned in January, that the pheasant served at the Inaugural Luncheon by Design Cuisine of Arlington, VA was MacFarlane's product. Executive Chef Shannon Shaffer said of the inaugural luncheon: "We proudly used MacFarlane's pheeasant that received many compliments, even from a New York Times food writer that was in the kitchen that day doing a behind the scenes story. We have been asked to serve this same dish to many people since then and continue to use your pheasant. We have used it for many years! Thank you for helping us look so good!"
A film crew from the Food Network series "Will Work for Food" starring Adam Gertler visited our farm as well, to record a segment for this series. Adam was given a crash course in pheasant farming, rising very early and staying as late as needed to finsh his chores. He worked closely with MacFarlane's managers and learned about egg collection, incubation, hatching, brooding of chicks, as well as barn cleaning and adult bird catching. This segment airs on March 16 on the Food Network at 9:30 pm ET/PT, March 17, 12:30 am ET/PT, and Sunday, March 22nd at 4:30 pm ET.
