The Unique Talents of MacFarlane Pheasants Office Staff Benefits Our Customers!
The office staff at MacFarlane Pheasants all have unique backgrounds that, when combined, provide valuable assets to our customers. Regardless of each person’s background, each recognizes teamwork as the essential quality for meeting our customer’s needs. We asked each of our office staff to share their backgrounds and philosophy for teamwork so you can get a feel for the broad range of experience and talent our staff has to offer.
Sarah Pope-VP of Operations
- I have worked at MacFarlane Pheasants for 14 1/2 years.
- My degree is in Political Science and Public Administration, so I wouldn’t say that my education prepared me for my job, but I would say that my background in agriculture, 4-H, FFA in high school, as well as my leadership skills and experience, all attribute to my success at MacFarlane Pheasants.
- I grew up locally, know many people in our area, and have strong ties to the local communities. Connections and relationships are very important in the agriculture industry.
- The most important part of teamwork is communication and trust. Communicate your wins and worries to your team and trust that everyone is doing their best to succeed for the benefit of our customers.
Sarah Baker-Head of Sales/Mature Sales Account Manager
- I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with an emphasis on animal behavior. I minored in small business and psychology. I graduated in 2009.
- When I started at MacFarlane Pheasants, I raised the Red-Legged and Hungarian Partridges and assisted in the Hen barn. I enjoyed working with the birds, but my management experience gave me a chance to work in the Food Products Division.
- I managed the Food Products Division for a little over a year, before I started working in the office as an assistant to the company’s other divisions. I have worked in mature sales for about 7 years. This last year I became Head of Sales.
- We all work together throughout the mature pheasant and chick season. Everyone in our office makes a difference and has a part in decision-making. We do not have an automated system. You may speak to any one of us when you call our office. We all strive to have great customer service so it’s important that we all work together.
Karina Haas-Chick & Egg Sales/Food Product Sales Account Manager/Pet Food Account Manager
- I have worked at MacFarlane Pheasants for the last seven years.
- My background before working at MacFarlane’s was not agricultural, so I’ve learned everything I know thanks to MacFarlane Pheasants.
- I started as the receptionist and eventually moved on to do the Human and Pet Food Sales. Now I have transitioned into being the Day Old Chicks and Egg Account Manager.
- During the fall, I help Sarah Baker with checking paperwork for mature sales.
- We all help each other around the office so that if one of us is gone, we can keep everything running smoothly. It’s important to work as a team so we can provide excellent customer service at all times and I think the best way to do is by communicating as a team.
Kyleigh White-Assistant to Vice Presidents
- I have been with the company three years, since June of 2021.
- My nursing experience prepared me to work in a team environment. I also have extensive computer and office work experience.
- I didn’t have any previous bird or pheasant experience, but I have learned so much in my three years at MacFarlane Pheasants.
- A big part of teamwork is having the same goals or outcomes.
- When everyone is on board with the same goals, it is easier to work together. The framework we use gives everyone the opportunity to learn and grow.
