Hatchery News at MacFarlane Pheasants
Clear Cut Remodeling has constructed a 3000 square foot addition to our hatchery at MacFarlane Pheasants in Janesville, Wisconsin. The inside of our building was completed on February 20, 2024, and the installation of new machines has already begun!
The demand for pheasant chicks is high. The only way to increase our capacity was to add onto our hatchery. We also decided to go with new machines, as our current machines are over 30 years old. After studying the benefits of the new one-stage incubators it was an easy decision to make.
The new addition will house 9 total incubators which hold 60,000 eggs each. Our new hatching system is a Jamesway P- 60. It is a single stage (as opposed to multiple stage) incubator. In a nutshell, this just means that all the eggs in one incubator will be hatched on the same day. We will hatch 140,000 chicks every week!
These new machines are state of the art with the latest and greatest technology. If you would like to read more about the Jamesway P-60 ,please read the Product Specification Sheet on the Jamesway website. The bottom line is we are expecting a 1-2% better overall hatch rate AND healthier, more vigorous chicks.
