The Calm After the Storm: Our 2024 Christmas Card

Published On: December 11, 2024Categories: Our Team

We’re excited to share this year’s Christmas card with you! For the past several years, we’ve had the privilege of working with Ron Lawrence, a talented artist with a deep connection to our farm. Ron’s hand-drawn holiday cards have become a cherished tradition, bringing a unique and personal touch to the holiday season.

Ron’s history with MacFarlane Pheasants goes back to the early 1960s when he started working part-time at the farm. At the time, he was also employed at General Motors and looking for a second job. He joined our team when our owner, Bill MacFarlane, was about 12 years old. Ron worked at the farm for nearly 30 years before retiring. Since then, Ron has continued to share his talents with us by creating these incredible holiday cards, each one a true work of art.

What makes Ron’s cards even more special are the hidden gems within them. Every year, he includes his initials somewhere in the drawing and adds fun Easter Eggs for us to discover. This year’s card is no exception!

A Unique Theme for 2024

This year’s card holds particular significance as it reflects a major event from 2024—the tornado that hit our farm. Sarah Pope suggested the theme, and our Chick & Egg Sales Manager, Karina, came up with the perfect title: The Calm After the Storm.

The card captures the resilience of our farm and community, with a touch of humor woven into the design. If you look closely, you’ll spot a witch riding her bike—a whimsical nod to the storm and the movie Wicked’s release this year. And, of course, there are plenty of other surprises hidden throughout the illustration for you to find!

A Tradition That Connects Us

These cards are more than just a holiday greeting—they’re a way to celebrate the creativity and history that make MacFarlane Pheasants unique. Here’s a look at some of our favorite cards from years’ past.

We hope you enjoy this year’s card as much as we enjoyed creating it. From everyone at MacFarlane Pheasants, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season!

Happy Holidays!
