Role and Responsibilities
1. Oversee assigned pheasant and/or partridge flight pens with a hands-on approach from 7 weeks through shipping
- Maintain/uphold biosecurity protocols
- Oversee/perform flight pen setup
- Oversee/verify bird placement and stocking density
- Monitor flock health
- Oversee and track mortality records
- Verify weekly checks are completed & numbers accurate
- Perform feed checks and schedule orders
- Ensure birds are properly cared for
2. Production leadership
- Training staff on company SOP
- Helping staff to understand the production process through company SOP and storyboard work instructions
3. People leadership
- Establish a weekly cadence of communication with direct reports
- Provide coaching to reports on SOP implementation
- Create a culture of accountability
4. Self-leadership
- Seek opportunities to grow through coaching
- Weekly 1:1 reporting with Brian check
- Find ways to increase both production and leadership skills
5. Leading a team of 1 person to achieve (desired outcomes)
- Caring for the birds, ensuring proper food, water, and environmental conditions
- Coordinate with other Leads on equipment sharing
- Accurate bird counts in and out of flight pens
- Provide a high-quality bird for next stage of production
6. Success is measured by:

- Achieving < 10% flight pen mortality per season
- Having team members trained in all tasks
- Implementing company standard operating and storyboard procedures for farm management
- Accurate bird counts within 2%
- Favorable supervisor and peer assessment of work performance
Qualifications and Required skills:
- Schedules are subject to change depending on seasonal workload and needs of the company
- Weekend availability required, early start times and night checks occasionally required
- Walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 to 100lbs
- Communication with coworkers and supervisors, both written and electronic
- Reading, writing, counting and basic math skills may be required
- Outdoor and indoor work is required; possible exposure to dust, animal dander, heat/humidity, direct sunlight, animal byproducts (including mortality), precipitation (rain and snow), mud
- Be sure to dress appropriately for the situation
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a plus, but not required
- Experience operating farm machinery is a plus (Skid steer, tractors, etc)
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Dependable, self-motivated, and good communication skills needed.
